Now I became a mother I am so much looking forward to do yoga practices with my little princess. But how can you make yoga practice interesting and fun for your little one? How to let your child enjoy the advantages of yoga and mindfulness without the practice become dull? I searched the internet for the coolest books, yoga mats and games that will make teaching yoga to kids super fun and easy. Your child is going to love yoga, just like you when you use these items and tips!

The benefits of teaching yoga to kids

But why is it so important for your child to practice yoga and mindfulness?

First of all, you’ll connect and bond when you’re practicing yoga and mindfulness together with your child. You’ll enjoy some quality time together wherein you can just have fun and focus on each other. It’s a healthy and playful way to connect! Yoga also helps your child to establish positive habits in his/her life. Your child will gain strength, get a better coordination and more flexibility. And mentally you’re teaching your child to be aware of his/her body and to be self-confident. Yoga and mindfulness can help your child to cope better with anxiety and stress and to feel more inner peace. So, it improves your child’s well-being in any possible way, physically and emotionally. In my opinion, yoga should be integrated into the basic education of every child and it should be taught in every school. Especially in the world we live in today, which is full of stimuli every day and all day long. Many children (and adults) are really affected by that and don’t know how to distance themselves from all these stimulations. This is where yoga and mindfulness come into play. Because yoga and mindfulness actually can help your child to create some peace and quiet, which is very hard to find elsewhere.

Only benefits! But how can you make yoga and mindfulness fun for your child, without your child getting bored at point? Because we all know how fast children can be distracted, get bored and lose their focus. Luckily, there are many super fun products which you can use to let your child learn yoga and mindfulness in a playful way. I found children’s yoga mats, books, and games for you. Here are the ones I like the most:

Book: ABC Yoga For Me & ABC Mindful Me

These awesome books with beautiful illustrations pair the letters of the alphabet with words that promote dreams and healthy living. In ABC Yoga For Me you teach your child the ABC while you’re also introducing them to many different animals and yoga poses for children. All the asana’s (yoga poses) are renamed, so children can remember them more easily. And in ABC Mindful Me you teach your child the concepts of mindfulness in a playful way, while you’re also teaching the ABC. The books encourage your child to move and learn at the same time!
